  • Traffic impacts: Lake Street sanitary sewer replacement project, June 24-August 30

    The City of Madison is preparing for a significant project along N. Lake Street at University Avenue, aiming to replace aging sanitary sewer mains and enhance the storm sewer system. Work will be completed in two phases beginning Monday, June 24.

  • Some parking restrictions waived July 4-5

    In observance of Independence Day, parking permits will not be required in most surface parking lots on Thursday and Friday, July 4-5. Parking in these lots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All garages and ramps will be under normal weekday operation July 5.

  • Some parking restrictions waived June 19

    In observance of Juneteenth, parking permits will not be required in most surface parking lots on Wednesday, June 19. Parking in these lots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All garages and ramps will be under normal weekday operation.

  • Articulated electric buses coming to campus this summer

    The 60-foot vehicles with an accordion in the middle will begin serving UW campus bus routes this summer and are expected to be fully operational for the fall 2024 semester. The buses have more passenger capacity and are fully electric. And yes, they can handle the hairpin turn on Observatory Drive!

  • 2024-25 parking permit applications open May 8

    Faculty, staff, and students may apply for base lot, Flex, UW Accessible, park and ride, and business alternate permits. The deadline for early consideration is May 31, and there will be additional deadlines to apply throughout the summer. UW department and vendor permit applications opened May 1. Other permit types and bus passes will be available August 1.

2024-25 parking permit applications

Round 2 applications for base lot, carpool, Flex, UW-Accessible, park and ride, and business alternate parking permits for the upcoming parking year will be accepted July 10-30. Bus passes and other parking permit types will be available to purchase Aug. 1.
